Woodly® Material is Back at Slush After a Succesful Debut

The Woodly® cloakroom tags made their successful debut at last year’s Slush event and the collaboration continues this year at Slush 2023.

Made from our carbon-neutral, wood-based and recyclable Woodly® material in collaboration with VTT, the Woodly® cloakroom tags are a great example of the sustainable innovation values that Slush promotes.

“The feedback was very positive from last year, and people seemed to connect the story behind the Woodly® cloakroom tags well with the Slush brand. Even small acts of sustainability can spark thoughts and conversations in people, which is naturally what we aim for”, says Slush’s Head of Production, Valtteri Meriläinen.

With Slush 2023 being just around the corner, this year’s main theme is “Building to Last” which focuses on celebrating “entrepreneurial grit” and building enduring companies.

“The central theme of the event is building sustainable businesses, and sustainable development is also a highly relevant topic”, adds Meriläinen.

Not just a buzzword

Sustainability is once again at the core of Slush’s operations. Whether it is food, use of materials, recycling, plane trips or even something simple as cloakroom tags, Slush is looking to take anything and everything into account when it comes to reducing its carbon footprint and environmental impact.

“We have been paying even more attention to the use of different materials and the creation of a seamless recycling system. In this regard, our various subcontractors and partners play a vital role, and every material choice matters. For example, we have completely revamped the name tags, which play a significant role at the event, to eliminate some problematic materials,” comments Meriläinen.

“Additionally, just like last year, all the food served at the event is vegan or suitable for a vegetarian diet, completely free from meat and seafood. Furthermore, we offset all the emissions generated from organizing the event in collaboration with our partner Supercritical, including the flights of attendees flying in”, concludes Meriläinen.

Slush 2023 will be held from 30th November to 1st December at the Messukeskus in Helsinki – the largest and most versatile event venue in Finland. This year’s event is expected to attract approximately 12 000 attendees from all around the world.
