What redesigning plastics means and how Woodly can help in our shared mission to save the world? Watch our video to learn more…
We will never live in a world without plastic, but we believe there is a future without waste and pollution. We can achieve this future through material innovation and extensive recycling, resulting in a complete de-coupling of all plastics from fossil-based feedstocks. Our mission at Woodly Ltd is to accelerate this shift towards a sustainable future by redesigning plastics. Our product is an entirely new type of plastic based on softwood cellulose and it mimics the best qualities of traditional fossil-based plastics. Yes, the Woodly material is plastic, just not the kind we are used to.
Overshoot Day marks the date when humanity’s ecological footprint exceeds the earth’s annual capacity to produce renewable natural resources and process CO2 emissions. A country’s overshoot day is the date on which Earth Overshoot Day would fall if all of humanity consumed like the people in this country. After the earth overshoot day, we are using nature’s resource stocks and accumulating carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
We have now used
11%
of the earth’s annual biocapacity for 2020
If all of humanity consumed like people in Finland, we would have used
25%
of the earth’s annual biocapacity for 2020
If all of humanity consumed like people in Germany, we would have used
19%
of the earth’s annual biocapacity for 2020
If all of humanity consumed like people in USA, we would have used
32%
of the earth’s annual biocapacity for 2020
If all of humanity consumed like people in China, we would have used
